Once the service is opened, Key works with DCF, the providers and the youth and families to conduct utilization reviews to ensure the right service is offered and the length of service is managed based on quality, effectiveness, and the individual needs of the youth. Each Lead Agency also has an Education Coordinator who helps access appropriate educational services and school placements.
FSC combines all the components of our Outreach and Tracking model with a formalized clinical component that provides in-home treatment, assessment, and consultation as part of the Key team's services to the family. Our Outreach and Tracking program is our flagship model, having operated continuously for nearly 45 years.
This program is designed to assist youth and families in remaining in their community by providing a strength-based assessment, intensive wraparound, and a flexible array of in-home and community based services. Through intensive tracking, this program guides families through educational, legal, mental health and community supports. Key's Enhanced Family Outreach program includes in-home family therapy component.
Key provides a wide array of individual, group and family therapy, in-home therapy, specialized trauma evaluations, psychological evaluations, and psychiatric assessments and medication management through its licensed Mental Health Clinics.
The core components are preparation for adulthood through skills assessment and skill building, and life-long connections for each youth. Intensive Group Home Programs. Our Intensive Group Home Program model provides small, community-based settings. I do not recommend any to work here, the staff are fake, clients aren't too bad very understanding. The male staff are very aggressive towards clients, not a learning place at all. Pros none. Cons staff are fake and aggressive staff.
March 1, Thank you for your comments on working at the Key Program. Without more specific information, it is difficult to respond to your comments. All staff are certified through the Crisis Prevention Institute in verbal crisis intervention and non-violent physical restraint intervention.
Key is a learning agency that provides hundreds of training hours to our staff. We wish you well in your future endeavors. If a staff calls out you get mandated to stay which is ridiculous because you cant balance your life outside of work.
Pros None. Cons No breaks, mandate you to stay if someone calls out, spending your own money on clients, using gas in your own car. Yes There are 2 helpful reviews 2 No.
I'm sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience at the Key Program. I would like to address you comments. Staff are encouraged to take breaks for self-care and it is required to document breaks on time cards. Programs are to remain in ratio of 3 clients to 1 staff or 4 clients to 1 staff.
In the event a staff calls out sick, no staff is "mandated" to work an extra shift, they are "asked" if they will work an extra shift and if not, they will seek someone else or an on-call staff will work the shift. If any direct care staff works beyond 40 hours, they are paid time and a half. Supervisors hold a petty cash for program or client expenses.
Staff are also paid. The staff would also submitted their mileage log with their voucher for reimbursement for gas. Key has followed the most up to date guidance handed down by the CDC from the very start of the pandemic. Key follows all guidance to maintain the safety of our clients, their families, our own staff and families without compromising the best care and treatment for our youth.
Visitation for clients and family members have been suspended. All visitors must sign in and out of the program after entering and washing their hands. Hard work that is incredibly fulfilling. This job is not for the faint of heart. If you love people and working long hard hours, this may be for you. Be prepared to be hyper-vigalant for 9 hour to 16 hour shifts staff only do breaks for the 16 hour shift ; be prepared to go to work especially on tough days where you would want to call out; be prepared to go hands-on with escalated children; And be prepared to work 52 hour weeks at minimum.
Due to the nature of a residential home, staff get overworked. There's a lot of "holes" in the schedule that people will pick up. If they are not picked up, then staff that day must go off ratio. This is problematic because the normal can be tough at times never mind or more. To avoid this a lot of staff pick up those holes, but end up over-tired and are more of a problem than a help. The lack of staffing causes a ripple through the program that hurts everyone involved including the clients.
This issue is well known among the staff and we're are constantly told that administration is doing their best. If this is the case, then it is not as transparent as I would like it to be. At the end of the day I love this job, the staff and clients with my whole heart. Pros Overtime pay, rewarding, on-board trainings.
Cons Not guaranteed lunch breaks due to staffing issues, feels robotic at times. Thank you for your heartfelt comments. The pandemic has created so many staffing issues across every industry and Key is no different.
It is staff like you You are all very special people and although the kids may not say it, they thank you for making their lives a little easier. Please practice self-care and be well. Thank you again for all that you do! I believe Keys Can be better on hire better Management.
However the Clients are Great. Pros Great Clients. Cons Poor pay, poor management, Short Staffed. It appears you did not have a good experience at Key. The upper management is incredibly unprofessional including the director of operations, regional director, and HR. The overall culture of the agency is that they do not care about their employees, and do not advocate for their staff.
The clients are great, but the culture of the agency is not worth it. There are other great agencies out there! Pros Clientele. Yes There are 3 helpful reviews 3 No. Thank you for taking the time to comment on your experience at the Key Program.
It appears you had a difficult time in your position and you may feel like you were not heard. Most of Key's supervisors and administrators have worked their way up into their roles from direct care staff positions. They are familiar with and understand the challenges new staff are faced with and they offer a tremendous amount of support to ALL staff.
We wish you the best of success in your future endeavors. The workers at Key scream profanity at the top of their lungs and discriminate against persons of color. The office culture is similar to that of high school cliques and individuals who commit forgery are promoted to higher positions.
Pros Experience. Cons The atmosphere. Supervising children age in a group home setting. I learned how to de- escalate children in crisis. Provide directives to staff to hold daily groups such as anger management group, budgeting groups. Pros Rewarding, able to directly work with the children and try to make a difference in their lives.
Cons Long work hours that was inconsistent, poor benefits. September 14, Regarding your comment on long hours that were inconsistent, I would have to assume that you volunteered to picked up additional shifts in which you were compensated.
In any human service-related job, if there is a situation occurring at the end of a shift, the employee is likely stay a little longer to be a supportive teammate. Key has a very competitive wages and time and a half is paid for any hours beyond 40 hours per week. In addition, Key offers short-term disability and life insurances; paid training; free CEU's for licensure; tuition assistance for all positions; graduate school scholarships; mileage reimbursement; pre-tax childcare; retirement planning; and much much more!
Over all my job is very satifying.
